My first male sheepshead! Shot in about 45' fow.
Also got three females today as well, but nothing nearly as big.
This fish was a moron and once I was sitting still he swam straight to me. I got a nice shot through his left eye and out the right pectoral fin. |

50-55 feet. Murky 10-15 viz. Saw out of corner of my eye. Bolted by me going mach ten. Went into full BEAST MODE and kicked as hard as I could and followed him. He got just out of viz and flipped a 180 and started V-lining the other direction. Took a rather long shot (for norcal) and stuck the fish. Good thing I had my 95cm. Wrangled the fish underwater to ensure a victory! |

WOW My first sheephead! I was hunting for a big ling who disappeared into a crack, I kept returning to the crack trying to find other ways in and this guy popped out of a skylight and took a look at me and started to cruise away, got a good shot on him before he got too far.
Maybe 25-30 feet?
15 feet of vis, some swell making it surgy. My friend got a female sheep out of this same network of caves a few minutes later.

Super nice day. New dive spot. Was looking for a ling that I spooked. I was behind a Rock. Then I saw her. Got back behind the rock only had one band on. So under water loaded another band. Slowly poked back out staking the fish. Looking away but pointing gun at her. Let it rip. Okay shot in the belly. But didn’t go threw. Had to swim after it trying multiple times to get the spear threw her. Flopper just barely holding on. Finally got her under control all on one breath hold. In 25’ of water. Crazy! |
