I was reef diving with a little 50cm pea shooter when I came across this guy. After the shot, the ling snapped the cheap shaft at the notch and darted off. The vis was a rare 30+ feet so I was able to follow the fish from the surface. I gently drop down on the fish and with my gun useless, make a grab by digging my thumb and middle finger into its eye sockets and at the same time clamping my other hand around the wrist of its tail. Wrestled it to the surface and was finally able to dispatch it. Ling went a little over 38.25 inches. Not my biggest, but definitely my most memorable!
